Why buying a Go-Pod will be the best decision you make in 2025
Perhaps you stumbled across this blog post as you're actively considering buying a Go-Pod as part of your travel plans in 2025 and beyond and are scouring our website for any and all information to confirm your feeling that a Go-Pod is the caravan for you.
Maybe Google sent you here after searching for something totally different (who knows - search engine algorithms are an absolute mystery to most, us included) but decided to stay just to see what these strange, unique little caravans are all about.
Regardless of how you wound up here, we have a pitch to make to you:
Buying a Go-Pod will be the best decision you make this year.
Why, you ask? Let us explain.
Staycations aren't just a COVID fad
We acknowledge that, as we write this in the dead of Winter, just a week removed from a cold snap engulfing the country, not many are thinking about caravan holidays in the UK - more likely you're dreaming of sunning yourself on a beach somewhere in the Mediterranean with a cocktail in hand!
But hear us out; the UK is actually quite unfairly maligned as a holiday destination and there are innumerable hidden gems right here on our doorstep, waiting to be discovered. You might think that all we have to offer is grey skies, rain, pebble beaches and seas the colour of strongly brewed tea, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
From the majestic peaks of the Lake District to the golden, sandy beaches of Devon and Cornwall with crystal clear waters to boot, the UK is home to some truly stunning scenery that can comfortably go toe to toe with their much-lauded counterparts over on the continent. It's just waiting there for you to find it, and what better way to do so than with your own cosy little home away from home, on the go?
Spontaneity is the spice of life
The beauty of holidaying domestically is that it's possible to decide to pack your bags and set off on a whim, versus going abroad which typically requires a lot of planning in advance and far more expense. Have a spare weekend coming up and fancy a change of scenery? Pop a few changes of clothes in a bag, pick a destination and set off on your way.
This freedom is multiplied tenfold with a caravan, with the only real bit of preparation to do beforehand being booking yourself a place to pitch up at one of the thousands of touring caravan parks and campsites across the UK. Go-Pods then take this a step further with minimal space required to pitch up and the ability to use most of the onboard appliances with or without a mains electricity connection - allowing you to book what is known as a "grass only" pitch, saving money at the same time.
Go-Pods are designed to embrace spontaneity and a sense of adventure; leave yours packed with the bare essentials so that you can set off at short notice and you'll only need to worry about getting food & drinks together for your stay - or better yet, find a site near a nice local pub and eat out for the weekend!
Go-Pods are:
Budget-friendly Breaks
As a nation, we're quite a frugal bunch and the ever-rising cost of package holidays abroad (plus the declining value of the pound in recent years) makes annual or biannual holidays an unrealistic prospect for many of us now.
Having some downtime, R&R and an escape from the monotony of everyday life is crucial for your mental health, so limiting yourself to a single break once every couple of years is sure to lead to burnout before long. But what if there was a way to holiday multiple times per year without breaking the bank?
Go-Pod owners Suzanne & Ian Winterbottom kindly provided this write up explaining why they believe that their purchase of a Go-Pod has "future-proofed" their ability to holiday multiple times per year on a budget. It's a fascinating and informative read, but the gist of it is that they calculated that a 7 day break in Cornwall (their favourite holiday destination) would cost them over £1,800.00 with accommodation, fuel costs to travel there and back from their home in Yorkshire and all other associated expenses (food, drinks & sightseeing) taken into account.
They then broke down the costs of their most recent trip to Cornwall in their Go-Pod and found the total, all in, to be just £596.00 for 7 nights - less than half the cost! The numbers speak for themselves and they estimate that over the duration of their 8 (going on 9) years of owning their Go-Pod, it has more than paid for itself via the savings in holiday costs.
Needing a fresh start?
If you feel that your life has stagnated somewhat, with the monotony of routine gradually taking it's toll and you find yourself yearning for new experiences, locations to visit and people to meet, a Go-Pod could be the answer.
Owning a Go-Pod provides a tangible reason to travel - you've invested the money to purchase one, it's quick and easy to get up and go, so what is the excuse not to do so? Fear of the unknown quickly dissipates once you arrive on site and pitch up, and you'll soon find yourself having plenty of conversations with passersby intrigued by the unique little caravan you call home for the duration of your stay. Our owners like to say "There's no better ice-breaker than a Go-Pod!"
There's also an active, welcoming and rapidly growing community of Go-Pod owners online looking to connect with likeminded people who share a passion for exploration and new experiences. If you're looking to make a change and forge new & genuine friendships but are unsure of how best to do so, owning a Go-Pod can provide that - as ridiculous as it sounds!
With regular meet-ups arranged via the various owner groups, overseas rallies (the 2024 owners rally in France was attended by 16 owners and 2 more are planned for 2025 - Switzerland and France) and official UK Go-Pod owners rallies soon to be announced, you're not just purchasing a caravan - you're joining a family.
